72 year old Lloyd Vanatta of Dowelltown died Wednesday of an extended illness at DeKalb Hospital. He was a carpenter and a painter. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Dr. Don Mathis will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Parthena Bennett Vanatta; a son, Glenn Vanatta; brothers and sisters, Minnie Herman, Ernest Vanatta, Maureene Jones, Howard Vanatta, and Eugene Vanatta. Survivors include his wife, Ima Nell Vanatta of Dowelltown. A son, Jerry Vanatta of Dowelltown. A daughter, Annette Vanatta of Smithville. A granddaughter, Tami Lance of Smithville. Two great grandsons, Tristen Vanatta and Trevor Lance. One brother, J.C. and his wife Jean Vanatta of Dowelltown. Two sisters, Frances Gilley of Nashville and Sue and her husband Tom Lassiter of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses in memory of Mr. Vanatta in lieu of flowers.
