The Little Miss & Mister and Spring Blossom Pageants will be held Saturday, April 1, beginning at 12 p.m. at DCHS Auditorium. Contestants for the Little Miss & Mister must be between the ages of 4 and 6 by the night of pageant. The Spring Blossom Pageants are for girls 7yrs through 12 grade. Cost is $25. All contestants must be a DeKalb County resident only. Deadline to enter pageants is Monday, March 27. Applications are available at all DeKalb County Schools, Wilson Bank & Trust, Liberty State Bank, Creative Styles, The Tannery, A-1 Hair Studio and Clair’s Formal Wear. Applications are also available by email. All proceeds go to a DCHS senior girl scholarship. The pageants are sponsored by the Smithville Women’s Club. As a result of the drought of 2016, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) is providing cost-share on seeding pasture and hay fields in DeKalb County through the local Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) office. TDA will cost share at 75% on seed costs and drill rental, or $30 per acre, whichever is less. This cost share opportunity is only available for the spring of calendar year 2017, and consistent with planting date recommendations, and subject to funds availability.
