Is the County following proper protocol for displaying the Tennessee and American flags at night? During the public comment period of Monday night’s regular monthly meeting, Steven Cantrell addressed the county commission about his concern that the flags at county buildings are not being illuminated at night as they are at the Smithville Police Department building (shown here). “One night I was admiring the beautiful nighttime illumination of the US and TN flags in front of the Smithville police station—truly beautiful”. If the county can’t afford to illuminate the flags at night, then the low-cost solution is to lower them at night,” said Cantrell.
The DeKalb County Fair Board of Directors has announced that a limited number of $30 season passes are now on sale for gate admission to the 2024 Grandpa Fair of the South to be held Monday-Saturday, June 24-29 . Murfreesboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division Violent Crimes detectives are still investigating what led to a road rage shooting that left a DeKalb County man dead and another one injured Saturday, April 13.The fatal shooting victim, 49-year-old Paul Howell (shown here), reportedly of Rocky Road Liberty and formerly of South Mountain Street, Smithville was taken to the hospital in Murfreesboro where he later died. A second victim, a 48-year-old man, was shot in the arm and treated for his injury.
